NEW ZEALAND MARITIME SCHOOL APPOINTS FORMER STUDENT AS NEW LECTURER
Rachel Boyle has been appointed lecturer at the New Zealand Maritime School teaching subjects in the logistics, freight and seafaring programmes.
Ms Boyle is a former student of the Maritime School , gaining her Second Mates Foreign Going Certificate in 1990. In addition she has a Masters Foreign Going from Glasgow College of Nautical Studies and an MSc from Cardiff University.
She went to sea at 17, working as a deck officer on a range of vessels including cargo ships, passenger ships, ferries and high speed craft.
Rachel has also worked for the Maritime Safety Authority in New Zealand as a Search and Rescue advisor.
The New Zealand Maritime School , part of the Manukau Institute of Technology, is one of the top maritime training schools in the Asia Pacific region. It has more than 3000 enrolments each year and offers 105 different scheduled courses to growing numbers of local and international students.
