PFL
Awards Top Students
The achievements
of three New Zealand Maritime students were recognised by Pacific
Forum Line recently, as part of the shipping line's support of
the training offered by the school.
The students
were graduates of the Maritime School's Diploma in Shipping and
Freight. PFL has awarded able graduates since 1998.

Chief Executive
of Pacific Forum Line, John MacLennan, say the scholarships are
in recognition of the quality of training offered by the New Zealand
Maritime School and to support diligent students.
"Shipping
companies no longer offer a training ground as they once did and
the Maritime School fills a vital role in preparing young people
to join the industry.
'An urgent
need exists for well qualified people who can hit the ground running
when they start work, as the pace of the industry leaves no time
for in-house training."
Director of
the Maritime School, Tim Wilson, says there is a growing awareness
of the career opportunities offered by both the maritime and logistics
industries in New Zealand and there are already strong indications
of record enrolments for next year.
This year
a total of 3291 students enrolled in 154 courses, including 466
people from overseas.
