NEW ZEALAND MARITIME SCHOOL APPOINTS SIMULATOR EXPERT
Mark Gooderham has been appointed as a Senior Lecturer at the New Zealand
Maritime School in downtown Auckland.
Mark emigrated from the United Kingdom to take up the position. He was
previously a lecturer at the Fleetwood campus of Blackpool and the Fylde
College in Lancashire and before that was at sea as a deck officer on a
variety of vessels including supertankers, heavy lift ships and chemical
carriers.
His specialty in the United Kingdom was marine simulation. This is a special
feature of the New Zealand Maritime School with the school housing a full
mission ship simulator for training and assessing officers, masters and
pilots. In addition to his Masters certificate, Mark also has a Masters
degree in Engineering which will allow him to teach across both the deck and
engineering programmes offered by the school.
The New Zealand Maritime School , part of the Manukau Institute of Technology, is one of the top maritime training schools in the Asia Pacific region. It has more than 3000 enrolments each year and offers 105 different scheduled courses to growing numbers of local and international students.
